Teedra Moses: You're in the Hot Seat...

With grace, style, and seductive lyrics Teedra Moses remains 'annonymous' to many listeners of R&B music.  Here at Alana's Musical Diary we'd like to change this.  Perhaps you are not familiar with this artist who continues to demonstrate enormous vocal talent but seems to somehow escape earning the recognition she deserves.  Her voice is smooth as syrup and she has the ability to draw you in with her sexy vocals.

Teedra Moses has made it in our "hot-seat" because she more than deserves it.  Teedra performs her debut c.d. Complex Simplicities and after hearing Rescue Me, one would think she's an old soul returning to remind us of her gifts.  The music industry has no idea what they are missing when they can't market such artists like Teedra Moses or Amel Larrieux.  Both are talented, gorgeous, and have honed their craft, so why are they virtually ignored?

I have a very good friend who lives in the Los Angeles area that almost always calls me after midnight (EST) and on this morning she insisted after we had already conversed 2 hours that she play Teedra.  Not knowing who my friend had been referring to, she placed the phone near her stereo system so that I could hear Teedra Moses.  It was now sometime around 2:00am and I made her play her again.  I was so impressed with Teedra and upset that I had never heard of her, I quickly jotted her name so that I would never forget this artist.  Needless to say, some time had passed and I did forget Miss Moses.  One day while at work for a DC based newspaper, I had this brilliant idea to purchase MP3 downloads from Amazon.com and after much 'head banging' I finally remembered Teedra's full name.

I will showcase and critique the talent of many...but Teedra Moses needs to be a name we bring to the forefront.  Teedra is originally from Louisiana and began her career as a wardrobe stylist for such artists as Will Smith, R. Kelly, and the group No Doubt.  She is the daughter of Shirley Moses, who is a gospel singer.  Teedra has also written songs for Mary J. Blige and her music has been featured on HBO's Entourage.  Teedra's new c.d. entitled The Lioness is scheduled to be released this year.
Teedra, you are the music artist of the week, we salute you!
